The solo recital 15 April was made possible by the joined sponsorship of Mom Tri's Villa Royale and Alliance Française Phuket. The evening started with a cocktail reception on the lawn amid the lush tropical gardens of Villa Royale where Alliance Française Phuket President, Denis Rochel and General Manager of Villa Royale, Adisak ‘Dan' Pitukrojananont welcomed the guests. The concert program included pieces by Johan Sebastian Bach, Fritz Kreisler, Eugene Ysaye and Nicolo Paganini. The outstanding performance had the classical music lovers in the audience clamouring for more and they were not disappointed with the spirited encore. Brother of Phuket resident Anita Whooley, Mr. Steve, exclaimed he was exhilarated to hear Tchijik play. Residing in Russia he is an avid and frequent concert goer but had not yet had the opportunity to hear Tchijik in concert. “This man is considered a living legend”, he exclaimed, “I am very pleased I have finally heard him play, of all places in Phuket!” Other attendants, regular guests of Mom Tri's Boathouse for more than ten years here for a short break from the European cold spring weather, were equally pleasantly surprised by the event. “”Tchijik is a magnificent player, we didn't expect to have a chance to hear such a first class violinist during our regular beach holiday”, they said.
Chef Sura of Mom Tri's Kitchen treated the guests to a sumptuous Gala Dinner after the recital. It was served on Villa Royale's terrace overlooking Kata Noi Beach . The stunning view was complemented by a feast of organic feta cheese salad, home made rock lobster ravioli with wine cream sauce and a choice of either herbed, grilled tiger prawns or pan-fried duck breast with red wine sauce. The final course of the dinner was a delicious choco-banana tart with coconut ice cream. “Made with true Belgium chocolate”, as Khun Adisak remarked in response to a question regarding the secret to the intense chocolate velvety taste. “I wouldn't want the chef to use anything of a lesser quality”. Many of the guests lingered over wine and cigars until late, enjoying the spectacular view and the elegant premises of Villa Royale as the ‘grand finale' to a special evening.
